Christmas Tree Cupcakes

Skip the fancy buttercream — this month, give your cupcakes the Christmas spirit. 


  • 1 pkg (18.25 oz/510 g) cake mix, any flavor (plus ingredients to make cupcakes)
  • 1 container vanilla frosting
  •  green food coloring
  • 12   waffle sugar cones
  •  Sprinkles (optional)


  1. Use boxed cake mix to prepare 12 cupcakes in the Muffin Pan. In the meantime, fill one Easy Accent® Decorator (use writing tip) with store-bought vanilla frosting. Fill another Easy Accent® Decorator (use rosette tip) with vanilla frosting that's been tinted with green food coloring. Decorate 12 sugar cones with green frosting, starting at the base. (Note: Leave the tips unfrosted.)  

  2. Pipe a layer of white frosting on the edges of cupcakes to hold the cones in place. Grab the cones by the tips and press each one firmly onto a cupcake, then finish decorating the tip with the green frosting. And now the fun part — trim your trees with sprinkles, mini candies and more!
