Firecracker Ice

Your taste buds will explode with really cool fruity flavor when you eat this icy treat.

  • 1 envelope (.18 ounce) strawberry flavor (or any red color) unsweetened powdered soft drink mix
  • 1 envelope (.18 ounce) berry flavor (or any blue color) unsweetened powdered soft drink mix
  • 1 envelope (.26 ounce) lemonade flavor unsweetened powdered soft drink mix
  •  Water
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk)
  •  Sugar cones (if desired)

  1. Measure out 1 teaspoon strawberry flavor drink mix and place in 1 Ice Shaver Tub. Add 1 tablespoon water and stir until completely dissolved. In second tub, dissolve 1 teaspoon berry flavor drink mix in 1 tablespoon water. Repeat procedure using 1 teaspoon lemonade flavor drink mix and 1 tablespoon water in third tub.

  2. In Classic Batter Bowl, whisk sweetened condensed milk and 2 1/2 cups water using Stainless Whisk until well blended. Pour 1 1/4 cups of the milk mixture into each tub, stirring gently until liquid is all one color. Cover tubs with lids and place in freezer. Freeze until firm (about 6 hours.)

  3. Place Chillzanne® Mini-Bowl under Ice Shaver to catch shavings. Remove frozen mixture from 1 tub and shave with Ice Shaver. (Never put fingers into Ice Shaver!) Repeat with remaining tubs.

  4. Using Medium Scoop, scoop shaved ices into serving dishes or sugar cones, if desired.

Cook's Tips:

Use leftover drink mix to make an 8-ounce glass of fruit drink. For each flavor, mix the remaining drink mix with 1 cup of cold water and 3 tablespoons of sugar. Add an extra tablespoon of sugar for the lemonade flavor.

To easily remove frozen mixtures from Ice Shaver Tubs, hold tubs under cool running water for a few seconds.

The Chillzanne® Mini-Bowl is an ideal container to use when shaving ices. Pop it into the freezer at the same time as the Ice Shaver Tubs and it will be ready to go. Store leftover Firecracker Ice in covered bowl in the freezer.
