  • 1 large carrot, peeled and diced
  • 2   celery stalks, diced
  • ½ tsp (2 mL) salt
  • ¼ tsp (1 mL) pepper
  • 2   cloves garlic, pressed
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) tomato paste
  • ½ cup (125 mL dry red wine
  • 28 oz. (794 g) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) sugar
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) Italian Seasoning Mix
  •  Optional: ¼ cup (60 mL) heavy cream, grated Parmesan cheese
  • 12 oz. (350 g) spaghetti, cooked

Directions

  1. Set the Deluxe Multi Cooker to SEAR on high for 20 minutes. Add the oil to the inner pot and heat for 1–3 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef, onion, carrot, celery, salt, and pepper. Break the beef into crumbles while cooking until no longer pink, about 10–12 minutes.
  3. Add the garlic and tomato paste and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add the red wine and simmer for 2 minutes. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, sugar, and seasoning.
  4. Set to CUSTOM for 20 minutes; press START. When the timer is up, let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes, then manually release the remaining pressure.
  5. Add the spaghetti. If you’d like, add ¼ cup (60 mL) cream to the sauce and serve with grated Parmesan cheese.
