Sheet Pan Burgers
Who doesn’t love burgers for dinner? These fun, flavorful patties are cooked on top of onions with French fries for an all-in-one meal.
Ingredients
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp (5 mL) oil
- ½ pkg frozen French fries (about 3 cups/750 mL)
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) plus 1 tsp (5 mL) Smoky Mezcal Rub, divided
- 1 lb. (450 g) 85% lean ground beef
- 4 slices Havarti or cheddar cheese
- ½ cup (125 mL) ketchup
- 4 brioche hamburger buns, toasted
- Optional: Sliced dill pickles
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Place the onion on one side of a large sheet pan and toss with the oil. Place the fries on the other side. Sprinkle the onions and fries with 1 tsp (5 mL) of the rub. Bake for 11–13 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Combine the meat and 1 tbsp (15 mL) of rub in a mixing bowl and form into 4 thin patties. Place them on top of the onions. Bake for 20 minutes, or until cooked through and the fries are crispy.
- Top each burger with a slice of cheese and place back in the oven for an additional minute, or until the cheese is melted.
- Combine the ketchup with the remaining rub in a small bowl.
- To assemble, place the patty and onions on the bun and top with the sauce, and pickles, if you’d like. Serve the fries with the extra sauce.

Cook's Tips:
You can use thin potato wedges or tater tots instead of fries.
When you’re forming the burgers, make a thumb-size indentation in the centers to help the burgers keep their shape as they cook. The Burger & Slider Press does it for you!
