Black Garlic Seasoning helps create this new take on steak and potatoes that is quick, easy and oh so tasty.

Ingredients

    Steak and Potatoes
  • 1 lb. (450 g) baby yellow potatoes, halved (about 20)
  • ¼ cup (60 mL) water
  • 1 lb. (450 g) top sirloin steak, cut into 1 ½” pieces
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) Black Garlic Seasoning Mix
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) oil, divided
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) butter
  • ¼ tsp (1 mL) each salt and pepper
  • ¼ cup (60 mL) coarsely chopped parsley
    White Steak Sauce
  • ½ cup (125 mL) sour cream
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) Black Garlic Seasoning
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) half and half or milk
  • 1½ tsp (7 mL) Worcestershire sauce

Directions

  1. Add the potatoes and water to a medium microwave-safe bowl. Cover and microwave for 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. Toss the steak with 1 tbsp (15 mL) Black Garlic Seasoning Mix and 1 tsp (5 mL) oil in a large bowl.
  3. Whisk together the sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Set aside.
  4. Preheat the 12” (30-cm) Brilliance Nonstick Weeknight Skillet with the remaining oil for 3 minutes. Place the seasoned meat into the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 3-4 minutes without moving to develop nice browning. Flip and cook another 2-3 minutes. Remove meat from pan, leaving any extra liquid.
  5. Melt the butter in the skillet. When melted, add in the potatoes. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes have browned and are tender, about 5 minutes.
  6. Return the meat to the skillet and cook briefly to heat through, about 1 minute. Remove from heat and add in the chopped parsley. Serve with the sauce.

Cook's Tips:

Sirloin steak is flavorful and easy on your wallet but you can use any steak cut here! Filet, ribeye or strip all work great.

Microwaving the potatoes cooks them most of the way through quickly before you brown them up. You can also boil them on the stovetop in water for 6-8 minutes or until they are tender.

The steak sauce is great to have on hand. Mix it up and store it in a sealed jar for up to a week
