Salisbury Steak
This one-pan weeknight classic is a hearty, comforting dish that's always a crowd favorite— easy to make and perfect for busy nights.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. (1 kg) lean ground beef
- 2 eggs
- 1 pkg Meatloaf Meal Mix
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) oil
- 8 oz. (250 g) mushrooms, sliced
- ½ small onion, diced
- ¼ tsp (1 mL) salt
- ½ tsp (2 mL) black pepper
- ¼ cup (60 mL) flour
- 2 cups (500 mL) beef broth
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) barbecue sauce
Directions
- Add the ground beef, eggs, and meal mix to the Deluxe Stand Mixer. Set to MIX for 45 seconds. Shape the mixture into 8 oval patties.
- Heat the oil in the 4.5-qt. (4.3-L) Stainless Steel Saute Pan over medium-high heat for 2–3 minutes.
- Place the patties in the pan and sear for 2–3 minutes per side. (The patties will shrink as they cook.) Remove the patties from the pan.
- Add the mushrooms, onion, salt, and pepper to the pan. Cook until the mushrooms begin to brown, about 4–5 minutes. Add the flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Add the broth, Worcestershire sauce, and barbecue sauce to the pan and whisk to combine. Place the patties back into the pan along with any juices and reduce the heat to low. Cook, covered, for 15 minutes, or until cooked to 165°F (74°C). Flip the patties halfway through.
- Serve over mashed potatoes and with your favorite green veggie. Spoon the gravy on top.
