Simple Syrup

Simple syrup is probably the easiest recipe you’ll ever make—plus, you can make as little or as much as you want.


  • 1 cup (250 mL) water
  • 1 cup (250 mL) sugar


  1. Combine the water and sugar in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave, uncovered, on HIGH for 4–5 minutes, stirring halfway through cooking.

  2. Let the syrup cool completely before using. Store, covered, in the refrigerator for up to 6 months.

Cook's Tips:

To make on the stove, heat the water and sugar over medium-high heat in a sauce pot until the sugar is dissolved.
