Homestyle Turkey Breast
Ingredients
- 1 5-6 lb (2.25-2.72 kg) bone-in turkey breast
- 1 lemon
- 1 jar (12 oz/350 g) turkey gravy
- 1 cup (250 mL) water
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) Dijon mustard
- ½ tsp (2 mL) dried oregano leaves
- ½ tsp (2 mL) dried basil leaves
- ½ tsp (2 mL) salt
- ¼ tsp (1 mL) ground black pepper
Directions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Pat the turkey dry with paper towels (see cook’s tip). Trim any excess fat, if necessary. Place, the turkey breast, skin side up, in the Fully Glazed Stone Round Baker.
- Juice the lemon into a small mixing bowl. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour gravy mixture over turkey, coating well.
- Bake for 30 minutes. Remove the turkey from the oven and baste the breast with the pan juices. Continue baking for 2 hours, and 30 minutes to 3 hours, basting every 30 minutes until the meat registers 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part and juices run clear. Remove the baker to a cooling rack and transfer the turkey breast to a cutting board. Let rest for 10 minutes before carving.
- For the gravy, strain the pan juices through a mesh collander; skim off any fat, if necessary. Carve turkey into slices using Carving Set. Serve with gravy.
Yield:
- 10 servings
