Deliciously Golden Applesauce
Count this easy, homemade applesauce as your apple for the day. It's the perfect complement to Toasty Breakfast Pockets or French Toast Dippers.
Ingredients
- 12 medium golden delicious apples (about 4 lbs/1.8 kg)
- 2 cups (500 mL) apple juice
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) lemon juice
Directions
- Peel the apples then core and slice using the Apple Wedger.
- Place the apples, apple juice and lemon juice in 3-qt. (2.8-L) Stainless Steel Sauce Pan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to medium and cook 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove the pan from heat Using Mix ‘N Chop, carefully mash apple mixture until it is as smooth as you like it.
- Let the applesauce cool to room temperature. Spoon into air-tight container and store in refrigerator.
Yield:
- 6 cups (1.4 L)

Cook's Tips:
For cinnamon-flavored applesauce, sprinkle each serving with ground cinnamon or combine 1 tablespoon sugar and 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon in Powdered Sugar Shaker and sprinkle over applesauce.
