Tuna Melt Patties

When the kids want burgers and you're tired of beef, try this grilled version of the ever-popular tuna salad sandwich. It's a lighter, healthier alternative that tastes good, too.

  • 2 cans (6 ounces each) water-packed white tuna, drained
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup green onions with tops, sliced
  • 1/4 cup unseasoned dry bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons light mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish, drained
  • 1   egg white
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • 4   English muffins, split
  • 4 slices (3/4 ounce each) reduced-fat American cheese
  •  Additional light mayonnaise and prepared mustard (optional)
  • 4   lettuce leaves
  • 1   tomato, sliced

  1. Drain tuna using small Stainless Mesh Colander; place tuna in Stainless (2-qt.) Mixing Bowl. Flake tuna using Pastry Blender. Chop celery using Food Chopper. Slice green onions with Utility Knife. Add celery, green onions, dry bread crumbs, mayonnaise, pickle relish, egg white and mustard to tuna; mix well.

  2. Heat Grill Pan over medium heat 5 minutes. Place 2 English muffins, cut sides down, in pan. Toast 1-2 minutes; remove from pan. Repeat with remaining muffins. Set aside.

  3. Form tuna mixture into 4 round patties, 1/2 inch thick. Lightly spray pan with vegetable oil using Kitchen Spritzer. Cook patties over medium heat 6 minutes, carefully turning with Nylon Turner after 3 minutes. Top with cheese. Continue cooking 1-2 minutes or until cheese is melted. Spread muffins with additional mayonnaise and mustard, if desired. Top 4 muffin halves with lettuce, tuna patties, tomato and remaining muffin halves.
