How do I make popcorn?

1. Place the plate post over the center post in the middle of the base.

2. Then, place the cooking plate on the base, so the plate post goes through center of the cooking plate. Make sure the plate is seated properly.

3. Place the stir rod in the center of the cooking plate. Align the center half circle of the stir rod with the groove in the plate post. Then, use the center knob to secure the stir rod into place. The stir rod should sit just slightly off the plate.

   • Don’t install the stir rod so it’s inverted.

   • Note: The stir rod shouldn’t scrape the cooking plate when installed correctly. If the stir rod scrapes the cooking plate, you must reinstall it.

4. Add your ingredients onto the cooking plate and always use Pampered Chef recipes.

5. Then, place the bowl on top and make sure it’s seated correctly.

   • Don’t use the cap in this step to allow steam to vent.

   • If you’re using butter, place the butter slices on top of the bowl.

   • Don’t put butter on the cooking plate. If you do this, it may cause the butter to burn.

6. Plug in the Electric Pop & Stir.

7. Turn the switch to select the POP setting.

8. Turn the switch to “Off” when the popcorn is done. Popcorn is usually done in less than ten minutes when the popping slows down with no more than 3 seconds between each pop.

   • The pop time may vary depending on the oil you’re using.

   • Note: To avoid burning, immediately remove the popcorn from the Electric Pop & Stir.

9. To remove popcorn, place the cap on top of the bowl by pushing it down and twisting it using the “lock” and “unlock” icons on the bowl as a guide.

10. Use heat-resistant oven mitts or pads to hold the handles of the bowl and the cooking plate together tightly to remove the bowl and the cooking plate from their respective resting positions upon the base unit.

11. Flip the bowl away from you and the base so the bowl sits flat on the countertop. Then, remove the cooking plate from the top of the bowl.

• Note: Never remove the bowl without putting the cap on.

What recipes should I use with the Electric Pop & Stir?
expand_more

• There is a recipe for popcorn and nuts in the Start Guide. You can also find additional recipes on the Pampered Chef website

Why did my butter burn?
expand_more

• Your butter burned because it was put on the cooking plate.

• The butter should only go on the vent on the lid, not the cooking plate.

• Please refer to the Start Guide or the product’s use and care.

Why didn’t my butter melt?
expand_more

• The butter may have been too cold or there may have been too much butter.

• We recommend using 2 tbsp (30 mL) of room temperature butter cut into ¼-inch (6 mm) slices or smaller.

• We also recommend using a small scraper to push unmelted butter through the holes in the lid once popcorn is done popping.

How should I store the Electric Pop & Stir?
expand_more

• Use the cord storage on the base to wrap the cord. Cord can only be wrapped in one direction. Follow the arrows on the bottom to wrap the cord properly.

• When the cord is properly wrapped, the plug should rest in the open space. Then, place the cooking plate with the rod assembled on the base and nest the base in the bowl.

Why are there dark specks in my popcorn?
expand_more

• This usually means the oil burned as it cooked.

• Use oil with a higher smoking point such as canola oil, vegetable oil, olive oil, refined coconut oil, grapeseed oil, peanut oil, or avocado oil.

• Do not use oils with particles.

• Please refer to the Pampered Chef recipes.

Why are the nuts falling off during cooking?
expand_more

• This can typically happen with larger nuts such as walnuts.

• Make sure the rod is installed correctly.

• We don’t recommend using the lid when making nuts as this makes it difficult to see when the nuts are done and may increase the cook time.

Why is my popcorn taking longer to pop?
expand_more

• The popcorn cook time can vary on the amount of kernels and freshness of the popcorn kernels being used, but usually takes less than ten minutes.

• We recommend using no more than ½ cup (125 mL) of fresh popcorn kernels that are stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.

Why do I have a lot of un-popped kernels?
expand_more

• Popping was stopped too soon. Keep the cycle running until popping has slowed. Sometimes popping may delay slightly halfway through a cycle. Look at the amount of popcorn in the bowl as an indicator.
