Homemade Mint-Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
Enjoy ice cream parlor vibes at home with this easy, classic homemade mint-chocolate chip ice cream recipe.
Ingredients
- 2 cups (500 mL) heavy whipping cream
- 1 cup (250 mL) whole milk
- ½ cup (125 mL) sugar
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) Mint-Chocolate Flavoring
- Optional: 4–5 drops green food coloring (see cook’s tip),
- ½ cup (125 mL) mini chocolate chips
Directions
- Place the bowl of the Ice Cream Maker into the freezer on the coldest setting for at least 24 hours.
- Combine the whipping cream, milk, sugar, flavoring, and food coloring (if you’d like) in a Classic Batter Bowl and whisk for 1 minute, or until the sugar is dissolved. Place the ice cream in the refrigerator for 30 minutes, or until mixture reaches 45°F (7°C).
- Remove the bowl from the freezer and attach the assembled clear lid to the bowl.
- Set the timer for 20 minutes. Once the paddle starts rotating, pour the cream mixture into the bowl. During the last minute of churning, pour the chocolate chips through the shoot, if you’d like.
- When the Ice Cream Maker stops turning, check for doneness. The mixture should be a soft-serve consistency. If needed, add more time until desired consistency is reached.

Cook's Tips:
If you’re using food coloring, make the mixture slightly more vibrant than you want it to be. The color will look lighten as the ice cream churns.
