GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION

To reduce the likelihood of property damage, serious injury, or death from electric shock, fire, or explosion you must read, understand, and follow all Safety and Use instructions before assembling or using this appliance.

This grill is intended to be used as an indoor/outdoor electric grill, or outdoor charcoal grill. It should only be used for grilling food.
- Do not use as a fire pit, wood-burning grill, or heat source.
- Do not use with any nonfood materials or products.
- Do not place or store any flammable or combustible materials inside or near the grill at any time.
- Do not use aerosols near the grill while it is in use or still hot.
DO NOT USE INDOORS OR IN AN ENCLOSED SPACE WITH CHARCOAL, (e.g., garage, porch, breezeway, camper, tent, car, or interior home space, or any space with an overhanging roof structure, etc.). Burning charcoal produces carbon monoxide which is an odorless toxic gas that may cause serious injury or death.

Some metal parts may have sharp edges. Wear gloves or exercise caution when handling parts to reduce the chance of cuts or injury.

To assemble the lid, align the handle with the holes in the lid. Insert a screw through the tops of each hole, and place a silicone washer, then a metal washer over the screws. Fasten with wingnuts.
To assemble each leg, align the leg with the holes in the body. Insert a screw through the bottoms of each hole, and place a silicone washer, then a metal washer over the screws. Fasten with wingnuts.
Insert the drip tray by aligning the tray with the tracks on the bottom of the grill body. Push the tray in until it is fully in place underneath the opening.
To secure the locking latch, pull up on the bottom portion. Position the top portion of the latch over the rim of the lid. Push down the bottom portion of the locking latch.

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, to prevent serious injury or death, including the following:

Do not use charcoal with electric heating element.
Do not use charcoal indoors. Burning charcoal or charcoal residue produces carbon monoxide which may cause serious injury or death.
Inspect the cord and electric elements before each use. Do not operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. If the cord, electric heating element, or controls are damaged or worn, do not attempt to repair them yourself.
To protect against electrical shock, or damage to the equipment, do not immerse cord, plug, or electric heating element in water or other liquid.
Never leave the electric heating element control in the ON position when you are not cooking.
Unplug the grill from the outlet when it’s not in use and before cleaning. Allow the grill to cool before moving, cleaning, disassembling or transporting
Never move the grill while in use or not fully cooled.
Use extreme caution when handling or removing the grease drip tray. Grease will be hot and will cause serious burns if spilled.
When finished grilling, turn the temperature control dial off and unplug the grill from the outlet. Let it cool before moving or cleaning.
Never use the grill in electric mode outdoors in wet conditions, or when there is rain, sleet, or snow.

If using on a counter top, do not let the cord hang over the edge.

The use of extension cords is not recommended. However, if you do decide that it can be used safely in your environment, they must be the same three-wire, grounded type, and the electrical rating at least as great as the appliance cord (16AWG).
If the electrical cord cannot be kept on the counter or table, make sure that you route it away from paths of travel to prevent the cord from being tripped on or snagged and possibly pulling the hot grill off of the support surface.
Outdoor extension cords should be used when grilling outdoors. Use products that are surface marked with the suffix letter “W” and with a tag stating “Suitable for use with outdoor appliances.” Ensure that the connection is kept dry and off of the ground.
Keep all electrical components dry. Do not submerse the electric heating element, the power cord or control in water. This will damage the components and may expose you to electrical shock.

INDOOR/OUTDOOR ELECTRIC GRILL SETUP, USE AND CARE

Ensure entire grill is thoroughly clean before use.
To install the electric heating element
1. Move the sliding cover on the side of the unit down
2. Insert the connection plug of the electric heating element from the inside through the opening. The notch of the plug should rest in the opening (inset A).
3. Insert the support hooks of the element into the holes in the top of the grill body (inset B).
4. Attach the control unit probe into the heating element connection, making sure that it is fully seated.
5. Place the grill grate over the electric heating element, making sure the support hooks are aligned.
If doing the initial conditioning inside, place the grill on a heat-safe surface near a hood. Turn on the hood to vent the smoke produced.
Turn the temperature control dial to your desired heat setting and place the lid on to preheat the grill grate.
After you thoroughly clean your grill, it is recommended to store it in a clean, dry area. Leave all the vents open so moisture doesn’t collect inside and cause rust.
If you store your grill outside, close the top vent to keep rain out. Store the heating element and power cord inside to prevent premature wear and damage.

When converting from outdoor charcoal grill to indoor electric grill, be sure to thoroughly clean the grill and wipe out all charcoal remnants and residue. If charcoal remnants or residue remain when using the electric heating element it may produce carbon monoxide which may cause serious injury or death.

To get the best flavor from your first grilling and remove any manufacturing oils, “break-in” your grill before cooking for the first time. Break in the electric heating element to remove the new-appliance smell before cooking for the first time. Once the grill is assembled, plug in the electric heating element, set the control on HIGH and let the grill run for about 10 minutes with the lid off.

When using your grill for the first time, the paint on the outside of the grill may change color slightly as a result of the high temperatures. This is normal and should be expected.
Keep the grill at least 12 inches (30.5 cm) away from combustible materials when in use.
The electric heating element uses high wattage. Make sure no other high-wattage appliances are plugged into the same circuit when you’re using the grill. If you experience a breaker tripping, then you will need to use a different outlet that is located on a different circuit, or make sure other appliances are turned off.
Do not oil the grill. Oiling the grill will create excessive smoke and will not improve performance.
The red light on the grill temperature control indicates that the power is on and that the heating element is heating. The light will turn on and off periodically, as the heating element adjusts to maintain the temperature.

When the red light is off, the heating element may still be hot. To prevent burns make sure that the control is turned to off and the grill is unplugged and completely cool before touching the heating element.

Leaving the lid vent open will decrease the heat. Closing it will increase the heat.
To stop grilling, turn the temperature control dial to “off”, then remove the plug from the wall outlet. Always pull the plug out from the wall; never pull the cord.

OUTDOOR CHARCOAL GRILL SET UP, USE AND CARE

Thoroughly clean the grill before and after each use.
Set up for charcoal cooking by removing the electric heating element and plug and position the metal cover over the plug hole in the base of the grill. (Figure 1)
Remove the lid and grill grate.
Place the charcoal tray in the bottom of the grill.
Place enough charcoal to create a single layer across charcoal tray (about 40 briquettes) in a pyramid shape on the charcoal tray.
Add charcoal lighter fluid according to the product directions
Carefully light the charcoal, leave uncovered and let it burn for 20–30 minutes, or until it is covered with light gray ash.
Use long-handled tongs to arrange the charcoal in a single layer across surface. This will help give you more even heating.
Place the grill grate back onto the grill and cover it with the lid.
Adjust the vent on the lid to the fully opened position and the bottom vent to the half open position. Let the grill grate preheat for about 5 minutes before cooking.

To get the best flavor from your first grilling and to remove any manufacturing oils, “break-in” your grill before cooking for the first time. GENERAL CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

Wash before using the first time.
Thoroughly clean the entire grill between each use.
After you are finished grilling and the grill has completely cooled, to clean the grill:
- Do not submerse the electric heating element, the control or the cord in water. Wipe these down with a damp cloth.
- Grill grate: dishwasher-safe.
- Lid and bowl: thoroughly clean with a soft cloth and soapy water and wipe dry before storing. Caution: be careful around sharp edges of the grill.
- Thoroughly clean entire grill between each use.
Do not use abrasive cleansers like steel wool, cleansers with bleach, or oven-cleaning solutions as they may permanently damage the surface and void the guarantee.
After you finish grilling, unplug the grill, cover with the lid if using outdoors with charcoal, and let it cool before cleaning.
Remove ashes after each time you cook. Make sure ashes are cold before discarding.

Use of the grill with charcoal on non-heat resistant surfaces such as wood, plastic or other combustible surfaces may cause damage or fire. The grill exterior surfaces may reach temperatures exceeding 600º F (315º C) when used with charcoal.
DO NOT USE INDOORS WITH CHARCOAL, or in an enclosed space, (e.g., garage, porch, breezeway, camper, tent, car, or interior home space, or any space with an overhanging roof structure, etc.). Burning charcoal produces carbon monoxide which may cause serious injury or death if charcoal is burned indoors or in an enclosed space.
Place your grill in an open area away from combustible materials like dry leaves, or brush, and at least 10 feet away from your house or other buildings.
Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for use of the charcoal and lighter fluid.
Never add lighter fluid to hot or warm coals.
Never use charcoal with the electric heating element. The electric heating element is not designed to be used in contact with charcoal or as a charcoal starter, as it may cause permanent damage to the electric heating element.
Do not use during high winds. High winds may blow burning embers out of the grill.
Do not use aerosols or store combustible or flammable liquids or materials near the grill.
Do not touch charcoal briquettes once they have been lit.
Do not close the lid on flaming charcoal. If the grill is closed and reopened, there may be a flare-up causing flames to expand beyond the grill.
Do not lean over the charcoal grill when lighting, or while the coals are hot.
Never move or transport the grill when in use or not fully cooled. Before moving, extinguish the coals, cover with the lid and let it cool before engaging the locking latches to move or clean.
Use extreme caution when handling or removing the grease drip tray. Grease will be hot during cooking and after cooking and will cause serious burns if spilled.
Make sure charcoal ashes have fully cooled before discarding in accordance with local rules or regulations.

OUTDOOR CHARCOAL GRILL SET UP, USE AND CARE

Thoroughly clean the grill before and after each use.
Set up for charcoal cooking by removing the electric heating element and plug and position the metal cover over the plug hole in the base of the grill. (Figure 1)
Remove the lid and grill grate.
Place the charcoal tray in the bottom of the grill.
Place enough charcoal to create a single layer across charcoal tray (about 40 briquettes) in a pyramid shape on the charcoal tray.
Add charcoal lighter fluid according to the product directions
Carefully light the charcoal, leave uncovered and let it burn for 20–30 minutes, or until it is covered with light gray ash.
Use long-handled tongs to arrange the charcoal in a single layer across surface. This will help give you more even heating.
Place the grill grate back onto the grill and cover it with the lid.
Adjust the vent on the lid to the fully opened position and the bottom vent to the half open position. Let the grill grate preheat for about 5 minutes before cooking.

When using your grill for the first time, the paint on the outside of the grill may change color slightly as a result of the high temperatures. This is normal and should be expected.
Do not overfill the charcoal tray or let charcoal touch the body of the grill.
Use a high-quality hardwood charcoal to ensure you get a good fire. Charcoal briquettes made from maple, oak, birch, or elm woods burn cleanly with very little smoke or unpleasant odors.
This grill is designed for direct heat cooking.
Charcoal can also be started using a chimney or electric charcoal starter. Follow the chimney or starter manufacturer’s instructions.

After cooking is complete:

To put out the charcoal, place the lid on the grill and close all the vents until the charcoal goes out completely. Make sure ashes are cold before discarding.
After you thoroughly clean your grill, it is recommended to store it in a clean, dry area. Leave vents open so moisture doesn’t collect inside and cause rust. If you store your grill outside, close the top vent to keep rain out.

GENERAL CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

Wash before using the first time.
Thoroughly clean the entire grill between each use.
After you are finished grilling and the grill has completely cooled, to clean the grill:
- Do not submerse the electric heating element, the control or the cord in water. Wipe these down with a damp cloth.
- Grill grate: dishwasher-safe.
- Lid and bowl: thoroughly clean with a soft cloth and soapy water and wipe dry before storing. Caution: be careful around sharp edges of the grill.
- Thoroughly clean entire grill between each use.
Do not use abrasive cleansers like steel wool, cleansers with bleach, or oven-cleaning solutions as they may permanently damage the surface and void the guarantee.
After you finish grilling, unplug the grill, cover with the lid if using outdoors with charcoal, and let it cool before cleaning.
Remove ashes after each time you cook. Make sure ashes are cold before discarding.
After you thoroughly clean your grill, store it in a clean, dry area. Leave vents open so moisture does not collect inside and cause rust. If you store your grill outside, close the top vent to keep rain out.
Store the heating element and power cord indoors to prevent premature wear and damage.
After continued use, it may look as if paint is peeling or flaking off the inside of the lid. The flakes you see are just accumulated cooking vapors that have turned into carbon. They are not harmful. You can remove them by brushing the lid with a grill brush.
