CAUTION Hot stoneware can cause burns if handled improperly. Always use a heat-resistant oven mitt or pad when handling hot stoneware or placing on surfaces. Due to the manufacturing process for this stoneware piece there may be natural color and finish variations in the clay and glaze which do not affect the performance of this product.
SAFEGUARDS
- Avoid extreme temperature changes. Always allow stoneware to cool to room temperature prior to adding liquid or cleaning.
- Do not slide. Stoneware may scratch surfaces. Protect surfaces by using a protective barrier between stoneware and surface.
- Place a protective barrier between pieces when stacking, as the unglazed foot rings may scratch glazed surfaces.
- Stoneware can break if bumped or dropped. If this occurs, use caution as the broken pieces can be sharp and could cause injury. Do not use chipped or damaged stoneware.
- Stoneware should not touch the sides of the oven or oven door when closed.
CLEANING
- Wash prior to first use. Dishwasher-safe. Dry thoroughly prior to storage.
- Clean the glazed surfaces after each use to remove cooked-on residues. Use a kitchen brush to scrub off residue. If it’s not cleaned after each use, a buildup will develop on the glaze. See the deep cleaning instructions below for more information.
- To deep clean the glaze:
- Prepare a paste by mixing ½ cup (125 mL) of baking soda or dishwasher detergent crystals with 3 tbsp (45 mL) of water. Using a soft, damp cloth, apply the paste to the glaze, scrubbing as needed. Rinse to remove the paste and towel dry.
- Use a non-bleach, all-purpose liquid or powdered cleanser that is safe for glazed surfaces in the kitchen. Follow cleanser label directions for use. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- A cleaning eraser can also be used on the glazed surface. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and towel dry.
USE
- Stoneware can be used in conventional, convection, and microwave ovens, and is freezer-safe. Stoneware is heat-resistant to 450°F (230°C). Do not use stoneware under the broiler or on direct heat source. Follow oven manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Utensils: Nylon, silicone, bamboo, wood, or metal utensils may be used. Metal utensils may mar the surface—use a non-bleach, all-purpose liquid or powdered cleanser that is safe for glazed surfaces in the kitchen to remove marring.
- Storage: To help reduce scratches on the interior and exterior glaze, place a paper towel or soft cloth towel between pans when storing.

- At least two-thirds of stoneware needs to be covered with food to avoid thermal shock. Always evenly distribute food over the stoneware surface. Avoid clustering foods.

- Do not place any other pan or rack on top of stoneware while baking.
