Use and Care Instructions
- Wash prior to first use; cover and Pineapple Wedger are dishwasher-safe.
- Works best with medium to large fresh, ripe pineapples. Ripe pineapple will appear fresh, be firm to touch with no bruises or soft spots. Overripe or under ripe pineapples are not recommended as they can clog the blades or can be difficult to cut.
- Remove cover by carefully lifting Pineapple Wedger at handles.
- Create a flat, even base by using a knife to cut a slice from top and bottom of pineapple.
- Position pineapple vertically on a flat, stable cutting board.
- Place Pineapple Wedger over center of fruit, aligning with core of the pineapple. Peel should extend beyond entire peeling blade by minimum of ¼"/6mm (see illustration #1).
- TIP: If pineapple is too tall to core whole or if there is less than ¼" (6 mm) space between peel and blade (as instructed in step 3), cut pineapple in half cross-wise (see illustration #2). Place pineapple halves, cut side up, on a flat, stable cutting board. Use Pineapple Wedger on each half, as instructed in step 5.
- Grasp handles, keeping fingers away from blade on underside of Pineapple Wedger. To start cutting through pineapple, use a slight rocking motion and continue to push down to core, halve and peel fruit (see illustration #3).
- To remove peel, grasp sectioned peel at top and pull up to release (see illustration #4).
- To remove fruit halves and core, pull up on corer handles while holding pineapple with thumbs (see illustration # 5). Keep fingers and thumbs away from blade on underside of Pineapple Wedger. Never push fruit or core back through underside of blades using thumb or finger (see illustration #6).
- TIP: If core or pineapple is difficult to remove from blade, use cover to push out fruit. Place cover on cutting board. Position Pineapple Wedger over cover; align center of cover with center coring blade. Push down to remove fruit from blade (see illustration #7).
- To replace cover; place cover on flat surface. Align center of cover with center of corer, press down to secure.
- Due to natural shape variations with pineapple, some excess peel may remain at the base. Trim as needed.
- Pineapple can also be quartered. Reposition Pineapple Wedger over pineapple and rotate 90°. Push down using a slight rocking motion to quarter. Quartered sections are perfect for slicing into chunks for snacks or salads.
- Pineapple Wedger can also be used with other fruits and vegetables:
- Firm plum tomatoes: Cut a thin slice off top and bottom of tomato to create a flat, even base. Align Pineapple Wedger over center of tomato and use a slight rocking motion to core and halve. Dice halved and seeded tomato for salsas or salads.
- Cucumbers and zucchini: Cut a slice off the top and bottom to create a flat, even base. Cut in half crosswise. Position vegetable vertically and align Pineapple Wedger over cucumber or zucchini. Use a slight rocking motion to core and halve. Fill cored halves with favorite cheese spread or dip.
