Smoked Sausage Wraps

This theme park favorite will be your family’s new grilling go-to for the summer! Tangy South Carolina BBQ sauce pairs perfectly with a refreshing cucumber apple slaw for a fun, quick meal.

Ingredients

    Barbecue Sauce
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) ketchup
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) South Carolina-Style Barbecue Rub
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) apple cider vinegar
    Cucumber-Apple Slaw
  • ½   seedless cucumber, coarsely grated and squeezed dry
  • 1   apple, coarsely grated and squeezed dry
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) sugar
  • ½ tsp (5 mL) South Carolina-Style Barbecue Rub
    Sausage Wraps
  • 4 links smoked sausage
  • 4 pieces soft pita or naan bread

Directions

  1. Combine all the sauce ingredients in a small bowl; set aside.
  2. Combine all the slaw ingredients in a medium mixing bowl; set aside.
  3. Preheat the grill to 350–375°F (180–190°C). Place the sausage on the grill and cook until it’s hot and browned, about 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  4. Place the bread on the grill to warm for about 30 seconds per side; remove from the grill.
  5. To assemble the wraps, place a sausage link on the bread, spread with about 1 tbsp (15 mL) of the barbecue sauce, and top with about ¼ cup (60 mL) of the cucumber-apple slaw.
