Classic brownies with crispy edges and a fudgy center are always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

  •  Oil for greasing
  • ½ cup (125 mL) butter, melted
  • 1 cup (250 mL) sugar
  • 2   eggs
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla
  • ¾ cup (175 mL) flour
  • ¼ cup (60 mL) cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp (2 mL) salt
  • 1 cup (250 mL) chocolate chips or chopped nuts, divided, optional

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350° F (180°C) and lightly grease an 8" (20cm) Square Pan With Lid with oil.
  2. Add the melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla to the bowl of the Deluxe Stand Mixer. Set to MIX for 45 seconds.
  3. Add the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and half of the mix-ins, if using. Set to MIX for 45 seconds.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spready evenly. Top with the remaining half of mix-ins, if using. Bake for 27-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted 1 in. (2.5 cm) from the edge comes out clean.
  5. Cool on a cooling rack for at least 1 hour before slicing.
